Arc is shutting down: dates and FAQ

Timeline
- Oct 22, 2026 Sunset announced; no new Arc accounts.
- Nov 23, 2026 Arc Search (iOS/Android): AI features off, no sign-in or sync. Desktop Arc starts showing reminders.
- Dec 15, 2026 Last day to request a copy or deletion of your Arc account data.
- Dec 22, 2026 Arc for macOS and Windows stops working; accounts deactivated; personal data deleted within 30 days. Arc Search for Android removed from Play Store and devices. Arc Search for iOS keeps working as a browser.
Why?
The company says it can no longer keep Arc as safe and secure as it needs to be, and its security team is focusing on Dia.
What to do this week
- Choose a browser (quiz, comparison).
- Export or import: export guide, or import into Dia.
- Save Easels as PNGs (how).
FAQ
When does Arc stop working?
December 22, 2026, for macOS and Windows.
Can I still open Arc's local data after Dec 22?
No. The Help Center says you won't be able to open Arc to get to Spaces, tabs or other browsing data after that date.
What does an Arc data request include?
Account details and a record of how you used Arc. It does not include browsing data on your device, such as history or passwords. Request by Dec 15, 2026.
Will Arc get updates before the shutdown?
Basic updates and fixes continue until Dec 22, 2026; no new features.
What happens to Arc Search?
From Nov 23, 2026 AI, sign-in and sync turn off. On Dec 22 the Android app is removed; the iOS app keeps working as a browser.
